The aim of this project was to further develop the experimental techniques for reasonance exchange scattering as well as non-resonant magnetic diffraction of synchrotron radiation. In particular, we are able to determine the magnetic cross-section in absolute units up to photon energies of 500 keV. The complementary probes of magnetic X-ray and neutron scattering have been combined to study the magnetic order in various antiferromagnets. In particular, we studied the incommensurate spin density wave of the itinerant antiferromagnet chromium. We report a separation of spin and orbital angular momentum.
