Fluid-solid flows often occur in sewage-treatment plants. The physical properties and the concentration of each phase both have a great influence on the general flow. Additional secondary swirling flows are induced by the use of a rotating removal system. In this work a finite element program is developed to simulate these effects. Numerical investigations of a circular sand trap and a circular sedimentation tank show a good agreement with measurements.
