Inspection tasks for SQUID measuring techniques in non-destructive testing of aircraft structures and the environmental conditions for the test are defined. The general ability of SQUID systems to work in an industrial environment has been demonstrated. Test in the laboratory have shown, that there is a great potential to detect smaller defects with SQUID sensors than with normal Eddy Current Testing. Proof test using riveted structures with fatigue cracks didn't fulfil, at this time the anticipations of the laboratory investigations. At this time, for the case of crack detection in riveted structures, SQUID sensors are equivalent to good inspectors applying normal Eddy Current procedures.
