Helias Stellarator Reactors (HSR) are considered, focussing on the superconducting modular coil system which generates the magnetic field, aiming to clarify critical issues of such systems. The development of the coil system is presented and the properties of the vacuum magnetic field are discussed. Electromagnetic forces and the resulting mechanical stresses and strains inside the coils and the surrounding structure are calculated. Parameter studies are made varying the major radius R_0 between 18 m and 24 m in order to investigate the engineering parameters for the superconducting coil system.
