Spectroscopic properties of the electron-detector array SACRED are described. This includes details of an electrostatic barrier used to suppress the #delta#-electron background inherent with in-beam electron spectroscopy. In addition, the first efficiency measurements are presented and are shown to be consistent with theory. In-beam conversion electron measurements investigating the existence of superdeformed states in "2"2"2Th are described. Details of a candidate superdeformed band are presented. Nuclear states in "2"2"2Th were populated using the "2"0"8Pb("1"8O,4n) reaction with a beam energy of 95 MeV and a target thickness of 250 #mu#g/cm"2. (author)Available from British Libr...
