The main objective of this thesis has been to address the applications and fundamentals of thermoluminescence (TL) and to contribute to existing knowledge about TL mechanisms in materials which are applied as radiation dosimeters. This issue has been explored for a long time but the mechanisms lack completeness and certainty. TL, Radioluminescence (RL) and Radio-thermoluminescence (RLTL) measurements have been conducted on a high sensitivity TL spectrometer both at low (30-290 K) and high (25-400 deg. C) temperatures, and different heat treatments (furnace and laser) were conducted in order to study the possible impurity clustering which changes the TL spectra and efficiency of the dosimeters.
