Studies were carried on the Cenozoic deposits tram Moeda syncline, Quadrilatero Ferrifero, Brazil. ln the Late Oligocene to Early Miocene, tectonic events, led to generate small sedimentary basins. The onset of the deposition was marked by land slides, rock fall, cohesive debris flows and mud flows composed by kaolinitic clays. ln the Miocene, under humid tropical climate, iron illuviation mechanisms led to the ferruginization followed by deferruginization mechanisms, from bottom to top, originating whitish kaolinitics facies at the base, mottled and red with nodules on the at the top.
