La Moselle est une rivière qui, du fait de sa situation géographique, est connectée aux principaux réseaux fluviaux européens, y entraînant l'arrivée régulière de nouvelles espèces. Un invasif récent (Dikerogammarus villosus, Amphipoda, Crustacea) a servi de modèle pour notre étude. Nous avons défini et analysé ses traits biologiques et écologiques, et avons mis en évidence un ensemble de caractéristiques ayant pu favoriser sa capacité à envahir de nouveaux milieux. Ces caractéristiques sont fréquemment avancées dans la littérature comme étant communes aux Gammaridae invasifs.
