Différents transposons sont actifs chez le champignon phytopathogène Fusarium oxysporum. Parmi ceux-ci, le transposon à ADN impala (Tc1-mariner) a été utilisé en mutagenèse insertionnelle chez plusieurs champignons ascomycètes. Bien que d'utilisation facile, impala présente toutefois l'inconvénient de s'insérer peu fréquemment à proximité des gènes.
