Mycobacterium marinum est une mycobactérie atypique découverte dans la première moitié du vingtième siècle. L'eau, douce ou salée, est son habitat naturel. Responsable de la tuberculose des poissons, elle provoque chez l'Homme une infection cutanée rare dénommée " maladie ou granulome des aquariums ", faisant suite à un traumatisme cutané et exposition à une eau contaminée. Son incidence annuelle est estimée à 0,15 cas pour 100000 habitants. L'atteinte de structures plus profondes telles que les os et les articulations, et les atteintes disséminées et systémiques sont décrites et surviennent préférentiellement chez des patients immunodéprimés.
