In this thesis, we present a software architecture of multimedia content adaptation (called DCAF: Distributed Content Adaptation Framework). This architecture is based on the use of Internet accessible adaptation services. Unlike in the previous approaches where the client, content server or a proxy is responsible for the adaptation process, in this architecture externally developed services carry out the content transformation. DCAF thus provides a general content adaptation solution offering flexibility, scalability, extensibility and interoperability.
