This paper analyzes talks between two generations based on two important methodologies of Pragmatics to find out useful pragmatic meanings from their conversations in The Joy Luck Club and reveals the changes in The Joy Luck Club from conflict to integration. Besides, reading many books, periodicals, and papers about Pragmatics to make sense of the back ground of this novel helps to understand the essence of this paper with the combination of Pragmatics. Through typical 11 conversations, we have better understanding about the change from cultural conflicts to cultural integration.
