Since cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in the Western countries, there is a strong need to diagnose and to treat cardiac diseases. The cardiac imaging techniques, such as ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), have improved considerably during the last years providing nowadays detailed anatomical and functional information on the heart.
