Leachate is produced when moisture enters the refuse in a landfill, extracts contaminants into the liquid phase, and produces moisture content sufficiently high to initiate liquid movement. Leachate is very contaminated and needs to be treated to avoid pollutions to surface and ground waters. It is quite common to treat leachate by a combined treatment system consisting of physical, chemical, and biological techniques. This chapter discusses theory and applications of physicochemical treatment in leachate treatmen
