Dědičné poruchy glykosylace proteinů (CDG) představují rozsáhlou skupinu závažných metabolických onemocnění, která jsou způsobena poruchou v biosyntéze glykoproteinů. Pro "screeningové" vyšetření poruch N-glykosylace se využívá analýza sialovaných iso- forem sérového transferinu (Tf) pomocí isoelektrické fokusace (IEF). V případě nemoci dochází ke změnám v zastoupení jednotlivých isoforem Tf, rozlišujeme patologický pro- fil typu I (snížený tetra-, zvýšený di- a asialotransferin) a typu II (má navíc zvýšený tri- a monosialotransferin).
