Le travail présenté dans cet ouvrage concerne le développement d'une méthodologie d'optimisation des lois de contrôle/commande des stations d'épuration des eaux usées urbaines. Ce travail est basé sur l'utilisation des modèles des procédés de traitement afin de réaliser la simulation de leur fonctionnement. Ces simulations sont utilisées par un algorithme d'optimisation multi-objectifs, NSGA-II. Cet algorithme d'optimisation permet la recherche des solutions optimales en fonction des différents objectifs considérés (qualité de l'effluent, consommation énergétique, etc.).
