Bullying in the Lower Grades of Primary Schools

This thesis deals with bullying in elementary schools. The theoretical part describes forms and causes of bullying within a group of pupils. It presents features of aggressors and victims of bullying and also some of the most common attitudes made by teachers, schools and parents and their opinions of this problem. Further, the thesis states specific ways of how bullying could be diagnosed, investigated and treated. It also suggests sanctions and educational precautions for the bullies. The practical part depicts a research that was aimed to monitor the extent of bullying in chosen classes of elementary level and to examine to what degree children are informed about this problem. Finally, the last chapter presents defined suggestions and recommendations for primal bullying prevention in the classroom based on the research results and theoretical knowledge as formerly discussed.Diplomová práce se věnuje šikanování na prvním stupni základní školy. Teoretická část objasňuje význam termínu šikana, popisuje formy a příčiny šikanování mezi žáky ve skupině, předkládá možné charakteristické znaky agresorů a obětí šikany a také časté přístupy a názory pedagogů, škol a rodičů na tuto problematiku. Dále uvádí přesné kroky, jak šikanování diagnostikovat, vyšetřovat a následně léčit a navrhuje sankce a výchovná opatření pro šikanující. Empirická část popisuje výzkum, jehož cílem bylo zmapovat rozsah šikany ve vybraných třídách prvního stupně a zjistit informovanost žáků o tomto problému.
