A Study of the European Community\u27s Common Agricultural Policy and its Effect on the Spanish Economy

The entry of Spain into the European Community on January 1, 1986, was the culmination of difficult negotiations. that lasted for almost ten years. The European Community has forced Spain to accept difficult conditions as the price of entry into the Community. Agriculture was a crucial issue in the membership negotiations. The adaptation of the EC\u27s Common Agricultural Policy to Spanish agriculture had enormously affected the Spanish economy. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the problems and prospects of the EC\u27s Common Agricultural Policy and its effect on the Spanish economy. This research study is divided into four main parts. Part I gives an overview of the principles. fundamentals and problems of the EC\u27s Common Agricultural Policy. Part II focuses on Spanish agriculture before the accession to the Community. It also covers the application and accession period of Spain to the Community and the evaluation of both parties\u27 agricultural structures. Part III discusses the accession of Spain to the European Community, the problems arising from the Spanish entry and the impact of the Community\u27s CAP on the Spanish economy. Part IV focuses on the new vision of the Community\u27 s CAP by discussing the CAP Reform of 1992 and the future enlargements of the Community
