There is a different of opinion about models for the development of tourism destinations. There are not any standard models. It must be recognized that the individual community must examine its historical background to identify the causal elements that influence events. What usually occurs in tourist development is that a successful model is found and it is transferred to another community without considering how the model has to be adapted and/or adjusted based upon the characteristics of the new community. In some cases, this transfer is successful and in other cases it is a complete failure.
