With the increasing use of three-dimensional (3-D) models in various practical applications, more and more attention has been paid on the research of digital watermarking techniques for 3-D polygonal meshes. In this thesis, we first provide a comprehensive survey on the state of the art in 3-D mesh watermarking, with an original attack-centric investigation. Then, we make use of the scalar Costa quantization scheme to construct a number of effective blind mesh watermarking schemes. We successfully embed multibit quantization-based blind watermarks in three different mesh domains: the wavelet domain of a semi-regular mesh, and the spatial and spectral domains of a general mesh.
