In the first part of this text, we will try to survey the electoral results and offer a synthetic reading, by relying on political comments from the main Japanese newspapers. This election also suggests a significant shift of the regime in the mode of articulation between politics and economics. To understand the current movement, we must first recall the nature of the politico-economic regime that has imposed itself since the end of the Second World War. This will be the subject of the second part. On the basis of this, we will be able to point out the difficulties linked to the arbitration between general interest and local accommodation within the extremely compartmentalized State, due to the nature of the “corporatism” put in place and its consequences on the - difficult - control of public finances during the crisis years. We will finally see how the economic and political stakes are articulated, in a new conjuncture where Japan must orient itself - the aging society obliges it - towards the "welfare state" rather than towards the neoliberal regime.La récente victoire électorale remportée par M. Koizumi au Japon est l'occasion de proposer une réflexion sur les modalités d'articulation entre la politique et l'économique dans ce pays et les changements en cours. Dans une première partie de ce texte, nous essaierons de survoler les résultats électoraux et d'en proposer une lecture, en nous appuyant sur des commentaires politiques issus des principaux journaux japonais. Cette élection laisse présager aussi un glissement significatif du régime dans le mode d'articulation entre la politique et l'économique. Pour comprendre le mouvement actuel, il faut tout d'abord rappeler la nature de régime politico-économique qui s'est imposé depuis la fin de seconde guerre mondiale. Ce sera l'objet de la deuxième partie. Partant de là, nous pourrons pointer les difficultés liées à l'arbitrage entre intérêt général et accommodements locaux au sein de l'Etat extrêmement compartimenté, dû à la nature du « corporatisme » mis en place et ses conséquences sur la - difficile - maîtrise des finances publiques durant les années de crise. Nous verrons enfin comment les enjeux économiques et politiques s'articulent, dans une nouvelle conjoncture où le Japon doit s'orienter - la société vieillissante l'oblige - vers « l'Etat-providence » plutôt que vers le régime néolibéral
