This thesis deals with the problem of the aeolian sand transport and focuses on the experimental characterization of saltation transport in a turbulent boundary layer. The measurements were conducted in a wind tunnel by means of particle tracking technique. We studied the wind-blown sand transport in two different configurations: over an erodible bed and over a rigid and bumpy bed. Our results showed that over an erodible bed, particle transport is confined in a thin layer near the ground. The thickness of this layer and the particle velocity is surprisingly independent of the wind strength.
