Nonlinear dynamics is prevalent in chemical engineering systems and gives rise to mique characteristics, such as bistability, hysteresis, oscillations and chaos. Chaos or aperiodicity is a unique nonlinear dynamical phenomenon which induces unpredictable oscillations and extreme sensitivity to reaction conditions.
