The research presented in this thesis has focused on the preparation of crystalline TiO2 nanoparticles and the tailoring of their surface properties in order to allow for their use in the field of biomaterials. Nanocrystalline titanium dioxide is being extensively studied because it offers very interesting properties for possible applications in the field of biomaterials.
