Determinants of health seeking behaviours and health service utilization : an analytical study of health seeking behaviours in the Northern areas of Pakistan

Currently the health policy planning process in Pakistan is impaired by a lack of analysis of how people use public, private and informal health care. Understanding the drivers of health seeking behaviour is important in order to develop rational policies to provide efficient, effective, acceptable, cost-effective, affordable and accessible health services and an overall responsive health care system. Better information is required on the determinants of health seeking behaviour such as socio-demographic, economic, physical accessibility, financial accessibility, women's autonomy and health service factors.
