Japan is a globally important region for biodiversity conservation and the scientific study of plant species. This thesis aims to assess the potential impacts of climate change on Japanese flora and to evaluate the effectiveness of protected areas for conservation. State-of-the-art statistical modelling techniques were employed and the modelling framework was designed to achieve projections with the highest accuracy. Five alternative modelling techniques were compared, the important variables were examined, and the effects of using different types of species data were investigated.
