Surface characterization of ReOx-Pd/TiO2 catalyst : Influence of support and protocols of Pd and Re deposition

MICROSCOPIE+CDFA+PDE:MAO:CPI:MBEInternational audienceThe most frequently used active and selective catalysts for the catalytic hydrogenation reaction of succinic acid to 1,4 butanediol comprise a noble metal in combination with a promoter metal such as Re, Sn, Mn. Among the best catalysts proposed for this reaction, bimetallic Re-Pd catalysts supported on TiO2 are very promising [1]. In this presentation we report on the characterization by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of a larger set of monometallic Pd, Re and bimetallic ReOx-Pd/TiO2. The aim of this study was to get a better understanding of the nature of the active and selective sites implied in the aqueous-phase reaction. Transmission electron microscopy, in HAADF-STEM mode, was also performed to localize Pd and Re particles
