Epithelial regulation by regionally defined populations of oral fibroblasts

The four individual phenotypic cell populations persisted in culture. On recombination into the organotypic system there were marked growth variations that may be attributable to diverse cytokine/receptor levels involved in epithelial-mesenchymal interactions.
