This thesis investigates different variations of the problem of azimuthal shear deformation of fibre reinforced cylindrical tubes. It is presented in two parts; the first of which deals with the linearized version of the problem, while, in the second part, the problem is considered in the finite deformation regime. The formulation of the problem, presented in the first part, is new in literature and it is regarded as one of the first few studies that considers bending resistant fibres in the small deformation regime. The problems studied in the second part of the thesis mainly deal with “ area-preserving" azimuthal shear deformation.
