Évaluation des connaissances des jeunes de 18 à 25 ans concernant l’infection par le VIH-Sida et impact sur leur dépistage : étude observationnelle auprès de 683 étudiants des Hauts-de-Seine

Context: Young people seem to make commonplace of the HIV-AIDS with a decline level ofknowledge and a low screening activity.Backgrounds: Assess knowledge of 18-25 years old students on HIV-AIDS and highlight alink with their screening activity. Define the prospects for improving our prevention strategies.Methods: Observational study with 683 students from 18 to 25 years enrolled in the Hautsde-Seine in various institutions (BTS, faculty, engineering school and professional highschool). Data collection was done by a questionnaire or-face or by Internet. The evaluation ofthe link between the level of knowledge and screening activity was conducted throughmultivariate logistic regression.Results: There is a strong link between the youth knowledge level on HIV-AIDS andscreening activity. The higher the score of knowledge increases, the likelihood of achieving ascreening HIV test increases even adjusted for sex, age or being a couple, potentialconfounding factors (OR (95%IC): 1,13 [1,02 to 1,25]; p <0,024). 67% of students would likemore information on HIV-AIDS. 42% of those who never approached the subject with theirdoctor would like to speak about it with him.Conclusion: The higher the level of knowledge of HIV and AIDS is, the more likely it is toperform screening. Young people want more information on this subject. Improvedknowledge, in addition to help identify and limit risk-taking, could make aware the young tovoluntary screening.Contexte : Les jeunes semblent banaliser l’infection par le VIH-Sida avec un niveau deconnaissance à la baisse et une activité de dépistage faible.Objectif : Evaluer les connaissances des jeunes de 18 à 25 ans scolarisés sur l’infection parle VIH-Sida et mettre en évidence un lien avec leur activité de dépistage. Définir lesperspectives d’amélioration de nos stratégies de prévention.Méthodes : Etude observationnelle auprès de 683 étudiants de 18 à 25 ans scolarisés dansles Hauts-de-Seine dans différents établissements (BTS, faculté, école d’ingénieur et lycéeprofessionnel). Le recueil de données a été fait par un questionnaire soit en présentiel soitpar Internet. L’évaluation du lien entre le niveau de connaissance et l’activité de dépistage aété réalisée grâce à une régression logistique multivariée.Résultats : Il existe un lien fort entre le niveau de connaissance des jeunes sur le VIH-Sidaet leur activité de dépistage.
