Background: Adherence to medication is often estimated at 50% with regards to chronic diseases. In 2003, the World Health Organization indicated that improving adherence would represent a major progress. It is essential that general practitioners get involved and assess adherence during consultations. The present study attempts to identify obstacles general practitioners face in assessing medication adherence.Method : Qualitative study by semi-structured interviews, using open questions, with general practitioners, whether established or substitutes, university professors or not, in both urban and rural settings, until data saturation was reached.
