Space is the root of Australian Aboriginal culture. The territory of each tribe is the result of the metamorphosis of a man or animal, whose spirit lies forever in the rock, river or mountain he was changed into. Each member of the tribe is the "traditional owner" of one of these places. He looks after it and he is the only one allowed to tell its story. It is only recently that the white population of Australia has acknowledged the right of Aboriginal people to claim their stolen territory. And it is, today, through those fundamental myths that each tribe can prove its link to the land. (Résumé d'auteur
