In the Senegal middle valley, many authors obtained a bad relationship between electromagnetic induction and electrical conductivity on corresponding extracts. The objective of this study is to verify if this bad result is due to abrupt lateral or vertical changes in the soil texture, moisture or in the chemical facies of the soil solution. The results indicate that it is necessary to take into consideration the whole soil profile prospected by the electromagnetic conductimeter for obtaining a suitable relation EM = f(EC, moisture, texture). The correlation is clearly improved if the precipitation of salts in the soil is taking into account according to the chemical facies of the solution. (Résumé d'auteur
