Direct numerical simulations (DNS) are computed in order to study the complete laminar-to-turbulent transition process of a boundary layer developing over a concave surface. It is found that the flow passing through such geometry is prone to develop centrifugal instabilities in the form of Görtler vortices. Transition is triggered by means of wall-roughness elements that are also utilized to preset the spanwise wavelength of the Görtler vortices. The different regions encountered in the transition process, i.e. linear, nonlinear, transition, and fully turbulent, are identified and characterized.
