Literature tells us that older people are more prejudiced against minority groups than younger people. This research investigates if there’s a difference in prejudice against Muslims of Dutch natives from different age groups. Besides that, the research also investigates what effect contact, education and traditional values have. This because these mechanisms would differ for different age groups and would be an explanation for prejudice against Muslims. Young people, as compared to older people, would have more contact with Muslims and have a higher education, which would lead to less prejudices. On the other hand, they would have less traditional values, which would lead to more prejudices. The research is quantitative and a survey was used to question 153 participants. Eventually,143 Dutch natives where used for the research. Mediation was used to answer the research question. This analysis method could show that the effect of age on prejudice would change because of the variables contact, education and traditional values. However, age turned out to be no significant predictor for prejudice, so contact, education and traditional values couldn’t change this effect. Age did significantly predict contact and traditional values. As expected, young people turned out to have more contact with Muslims and older people turned out to have more traditional values
