[Departement_IRSTEA]GT [TR1_IRSTEA]SET / BIOFORNational audienceThis paper reviews the scientific knowledge about the known and potential impacts of climate change on birds. Current impacts are: - many bird species shifted upwards and northwards (but not always) (especially relic and Nordic species), - a tendency to become sedentary (in relationship with conditions on the wintering grounds), - longer times spend on the breeding grounds, - advanced breeding phenology but sometimes with desynchronisation. Forecasting future changes in bird populations is very challenging except that the current trends are likely to continue. Nonetheless, simultaneous habitat loss and climate change are likely to deeply impact bird communities. In this context...
