Improving energy efficiency globally leads to many benefits. First and foremost, improved energy efficiency of equipment, buildings, vehicles and industrial processes will lead to a reduction of the use of electricity, heat and fuels. This will save large amounts of money. Moreover, benefits exist for employment, climate change abatement and the overall sustainability of our energy system. The aim of this report is to estimate the scale of these benefits, based on assessments from the world’s most authoritative organizations in this field. In addition, we provide some indications on how even greater improvements in energy efficiency could be stimulated
