Photographer's note: Fire can be made in 30 to 40 seconds by vigorously sawing a loop of cane back and forth around a split hardwood fire-stick. The fire-stick is held on a pad of tinder beneath the fire-makers foot. Smouldering sawdust drops onto the tinder, which is gently blown into ignition
