In this study the possible barriers / obstacles to or use of ICTs that first year B Ed students on the Wits School of Education campus are explored. Through the means of a questionnaire requiring both quantitative and qualitative responses the students’ comments are analysed for possible trends. The issue of age being a possible barrier is evaluated in light of the literature and data provided. As two groups of students, a young pre-service group and an older in-service group, emerge, the differences and similarities in their Information and Communications Technology (ICT) experience on campus is detailed.
