This dissertation addresses the question of implementing research within a first cycle. Divided in two parts, the first chapter starts from Wilhelm von Humboldt’s concept of education, inspired by Pestalozzi and implemented in the University of Berlin which he created in 1809. The concept of research is then seen from the perspective of philosophers: Gaston Bachelard, John Dewey, Thomas Kuhn and Henri Bergson. The second part of that chapter addresses the question of research in the arts: examining Henri Bergson’s point of view on the artist and John Dewey’s on experience of art; presenting the insights of representatives of different disciplines of arts and researchers in music; analysing the different possible links between education and ...
