National audienceThe Rochefort cave and more generally the whole of the cave sites of the Erve valley (Mayenne), testify to Solutrean occupations at the northern confines of the technocomplex extension area. It shows the adaptation of these groups of humans to the harsh conditions which prevailed during the Last Glacial Maximum north of the Loire, between 24790 cal BP and 21970 cal BP. Rarely observed under such conditions, the Solutrean of Rochefort cave finds itself to be an archaeological entity, offering all the advantages of an enclosed space.
