INST: L_200This thesis aims to review the applications of antibacterial agents and to study the relationship between chemical structure and antibacterial properties of some selected molecules. Ordered monolayers mimicking model membrane were formed using Langmuir technique and the effect of different structured antibacterials were tested against the monolayer. The degree of membrane affinity is evaluated using penetration measurement which gives information on the efficacy of the antibacterial agents
