A statistical analysis has been attempted on the emergency operation performed in the Department of Urology, Nagoya University Hospital during the period of 1970 to 1974. It was found that 62 emergency, unscheduled, operations were conducted in 59 patients, 41 males and 18 females, while in the same period were 903 scheduled operations undertaken. Two peaks were observed in the age distribution among patients who underwent emergency operation, i. e. 0-10 year-old and 51-60 year•old groups. Emergency operation was most frequently neccesitated in uremia due to the renal insufficiency, 21 cases out of 62 (34 %), then in malignant tumor 6 in number.
