Objective: To quantify incidence, age distribution, and seasonality of neonatal hypothermia among a large population cohort. Design: Longitudinal cohort study. Setting: Sarlahi, Nepal. Participants: A total of 23 240 newborns born between September 2, 2002, and February 1, 2006. Main Exposures: Community-based workers recorded axillary temperature on days 1 through 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 21, and 28 (213 636 total measurements). Main Outcome Measures: Regression smoothing was used to describe axillary temperature patterns during the newborn period.
