Samples for dissolved organic carbon (DOC, <0.2 µm) in deep-sea pore waters from the Clarion Clipperton Zone, German and Belgian license areas for polymetallic nodule mining in the Pacific Ocean, were collected with a multicorer in 2019 during cruise SO268. Samples were obtained at 1 to 2 cm intervals for the upper ca. 26 cm of sediment through centrifugation and filtration through 0.2 µm PES syringe filters. Non-purgeable organic carbon (NPOC) was measured with a high temperature combustion method using a multi N/C 2100S (Analytik Jena). The final DOC concentration is reported as the average of duplicate measurements.
