The motion of a soil block released by a slope failure depends on rigid-and fluid-fri-ctional forces which act on the interface between the moving soil block and the slope sur-face. The rigid friction of these forces, has already been discussed in the authours' formerpaper, and then the present study will discuss the problems relating to fluid friction stre-sses.The fluid frictions can be described in terms of viscous and Reynolds stresses beca-use these are caused by shearing the pore water within a soil block.
