Kinesitherapy in Diastasis Recti with Special Emphasis on Postpartum : Undergraduate Thesis

Diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) ili povećani inter recti razmak (IRD) je opisan kao razdvajanje rectus abdominis mišića. Može se javiti tijekom trudnoće i nakon porodjaja. Mota, Pascoal & Bo (2015) otkrili su da DRA može pogoditi 100% trudnih žena i može se zadržati u postporodjajnom periodu kod 35%-60% žena. Zabilježeni opseg DRA ili uvećanog IRD varira i može biti netočan uslijed različite dodjele poena za dijagnozu i korištenja različitih metoda mjerenja. Dostupan je ograničen broj studija o normalnoj širini IRD nakon trudnoće i rijetke informacije o faktorima rizika za DRA. Postoje teorije koje tvrde da propusti u efikasnom tretiranju DRA mogu dovesti do dugoročne sequelae, uključujući abdominalnu posturu, bol u lumbalnom dijelu i manje estetske nedostatke. Rodilje se potiču da nastave s abdominalnim vježbama ili ciljanim vježbama za trbušnu muskulaturu ubrzo nakon porodjaja da bi poboljšale funkciju trupa i povratile oblik i jačinu abdominalnih mišića.Do danas imamo oskudno znanje o najefikasnijim abdominalnim vježbama tijekom trudnoće i nakon porodjaja. Posebno je malo podataka o tome koje vježbe su najefikasnije u sužavanju recti diastasis.Diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) or the increased inter rectus distance (IRD) is described as theseparation of the rectus abdominis muscles. It can occur during pregnancy and after childbirth. Mota, Pascoal & Bo (2015) found DRA may affect up 100% of pregnant women, and it may persist separated in the immediate postpartum period in 35% to 60% of women. Reported prevalence of DRA or increased IRD varies and may be inaccurate due to different cut off points for the diagnosis and use of different measurement methods To date limited studies about the normal width of the IRD in postpartum women are available, and there is scarce information about risk factors for DRA. There are some theories stating that failure to treat DRA effectively can lead to long term sequelae, including abnormal posture, lumbo-pelvic pain and cosmetic imperfections. Postnatal women are stimulated to resume abdominal exercises shortly after delivery to improve trunk function and restore abdominal figure and fitness. To date there is scant knowledge on the most effective abdominal exercises both during pregnancy and after childbirth. In particular there is little evidence on which exercises are most efficient in the narrowing of the recti diastasis
