Leksičke promjene između srednjoengleskog i ranog modernog engleskog perioda

This thesis is focused on the prominent lexical changes in the Middle English and Early Modern English periods. It provides historical backgrounds for both periods as they are important and connected to language changes. Loanwords from French and Latin are presented for both periods; however, the Early Modern English period has a list of borrowings from other languages. These borrowings are listed and divided to a fitting semantic field according to their word class. By using the gathered data, conclusions of the scope of influence of loanwords on English are made. Every word-formation process is described and analysed structurally and some of new words coming from the mentioned periods are listed. By researching the mentioned lexical changes in the given periods, some conclusions on their importance for Contemporary English are made.Ovaj se diplomski rad temelji na najvažnijim leksičkim primjenama koje su se dogodile između srednjoengleskog i ranog modernog perioda u engleskom jeziku. Rad daje povijesnu pozadinu za oba perioda jer je važna i povezana s promjenama u jeziku. Posuđenice iz francuskog i latinskog su prezentirane za oba perioda, dok su za rani moderni period engleskoga prezentirane posuđenice i iz drugih jezika. Te su posuđenice svrstane u odgovarajuće semantičko polje prema vrsti riječi. Koristeći se prikupljenim podacima, napravljeni su zaključci o širini utjecaja posuđenica na engleski jezik. Svaki je proces tvorbe riječi je opisan i strukturalno analiziran i neke riječi koje su nastale tim procesima su navedene. Istraživanjem navedenih leksičkih promjena iz odabranih perioda se donose zaključci o tome zašto su bitni za suvremeni engleski
