Set Up a Punta della Dogana. Un’esperienza multidisciplinare, una prospettiva curatoriale

The article proposes an analysis of the curatorial approach to the programing of Set Up, a biennial event promoted and hosted by the Fondazione François Pinault Palazzo Grassi - Punta della Dogana in Venice, which aims to build a participatory dramaturgy and a relationship with a museum space temporarily devoid of tangible artworks. The survey gives back the curatorial strategies that substantiate this activity from an aesthetic, conceptual and productive point of view, putting them in dialogue with the current trends in the curatorship of the performing and live arts, which in recent years has meet the new needs of museums and art galleries and is producing a rich theoretical litterature. L’indagine restituisce le strategie curatoriali che sostanziano questa attività dal punto di vista estetico, concettuale e produttivo, ponendole in dialogo con le tendenze attuali della curatela delle performing e live arts, che negli ultimi anni è andata trasformandosi per rispondere alle nuove esigenze di musei e gallerie d’arte e sta dando vita a un corpus teorico sempre più ricco. Il saggio mette in evidenza come le performance selezionate e commissionate a ogni edizione di Set Up costruiscano una dimensione in cui le gerarchie e le distanze tra performer e spettatori sono continuamente negoziate per generare una “redistribuzione dell’attenzione” e favorire la creazione di un senso di appartenenza a una comunità di spettatori più che di conformità a uno spazio espositivo
