Background:Healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) have a large negative impact onmorbidity, mortality, and quality of life. Approximately 9% of all patients hospitalized inSweden suffer from HCAI. Hand hygiene plays a key role and is considered the single mostimportant measure to reduce HCAI. The hospital organization works actively to reduceHCAI.
